We thought that Tropical Storm Hanna wasn't going to be an issue for us here on the southern side of the island, but that was before she took a turn to the south overnight! On Monday we made our way out to the construction site again, where a small load of the large number of blocks we ordered had been delivered. That was a good thing because Saturday mid-day saw our workers out of block. The block that had been promised for last week arrived today, Tuesday. Thank goodness it arrived before the heavy rains of Hanna soaked the ground yet again, making them impassable to a large truck like that. The construction continues, rain or shine. Progress is on the second floor is good.
In this photo you can't really see the interior walls that are going up at the same time as these exterior walls, but you can start to get an idea of the size of the building I think.
As you might expect, with all this rain, the septic tank and the hole it sits in are both full of water. With tropical storms Ike and Josephine on the way and two more months of the hurricane season to go, it looks like that part will be wet for quite some time!
